Tuesday, Mar. 25 (Japan AND USA, yay for time travel)
- Got picked up at my apartment by taxi at about 6am to catch a bus to Osaka
- Arrived in Osaka about 12:45pm, grabbed lunch with Miki, Ryan and Blake at the Osaka eki before grabbing some Starbucks and hopping on the bus from downtown Osaka to KIX airport at about 2:30
- Ran into the lovely Ang on the bus and met up with her travel buddy, Carol before they flew to Bali
- Bought last minute souvenirs at the airport before catching my 6:40pm flight home
- Watched Dan in Real Life and Enchanted on the plane. Yay.
- Ran into Susana at arrivals (we did study abroad together in Italy), and Professor Gold, my Intro to Sociology teacher at baggage claim!
- Got picked up by Ate, Melissa and baby Jake at SFO, headed to BJ's for lunch
- chilled at home with family and ate some home cooked adobo. Hells yeah.
Wednesday, Mar. 26
- brunch at E-on with Ate, Paz and Jake. Got my veggie sandwich, bagel and iced coffee. Woot!
- late lunch/early dinner (Indian food, whaaat) with Joel in Albany, coffee in Berkeley
- got the buy 4, get 1 free cookie deal at Mrs. Fields. Holla.
- enjoyed my nephew!
- stayed up til 4am with Ate and Jake – made Wii Mii’s of myself and the guys from Superbad
Thursday, Mar. 27
- ordered the ultimate cheeseburger meal at Jack in the Box for lunch; appalled at the sight of a “Medium” coke
- Julie and Tyrene stopped by to see me and Jake, of course.
- vagina doctor’s appointment with the baby – interesting to say the least.
- dinner with Kels, Abhinav, KB, and Nino at Claim Jumper’s in Fremont. Regret not taking photos of the absurd portions at that damn restaurant. Got my chocolate chip and toffee cookie. Woot!
- Made Wii Mii’s of KB and Kels, then played Wii Bowling while carrying Jake
Friday, Mar. 28
- babysat Jake in the AM
- caught BART to meet up with Dea (who just flew up from LAX) and Fritzie at Glen Park
- Lunch at Osha Thai in the Mission with Dea, Fritzie, Joel, Norey and Jer
- Mani/pedi’s in Russian/Nob Hill, desserts next door
- Chilled/dressed for dinner at Joel’s
- Dinner at Saha’s in the TL around 8pm
- Mars Bar in SoMa for Dex’s bday fundraiser
- Crashed at Joel’s, just like old times!
Saturday, Mar. 29
- got home late afternoon, Dad cooked everything in the fridge because it was broken
- lunch with family, Tita Charo, Nate, Laila with all the stuff dad made
- dinner at Westlake, ran into some family friends – got my Peking Duck, Honey Walnut Prawns, Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup. Holla!
- left w/ Bobby and Heather to Greg’s for a pre-party in Alameda before heading to SF
- drove to Rosewood in North Beach/Broadway where hella folks met up – Bobby, Kels, Rose, Sugar, Lamo, Joel, April, Lawrence, KB, Neil, Jerome, Bob. Can we say Elementary/Junior High/High school/College reunion?!
- caught a ride back with KB and the guys, picked up my Western Bacon Cheeseburger at Carls. Jr.
Sunday, Mar. 30
- spent the morning making Wii Mii’s of Tita Charo/Nate
- met up with Dave, had lunch at Togo’s, got my Jamba Juice, and watched Stop-Loss in Union City
- came home for half an hour before heading to Greg’s for a “BBQ” with Bobby
- chilled in Alameda, chatted it up, spent time with Bobby, Greg and his roommate, ate shit-tons of toasted bread and dip before finally eating burgers that took about 4 hours to cook up while watching Blades of Glory
- had a long, long night
Monday, Mar. 31
- caught a BART to Berkeley, met up with Christine and Nicky, Holly and Dea for lunch at Barney’s Burgers (for those counting, this marked burger #4 in 5 days!)
- spent the afternoon getting eyebrows threaded (yes!!), chillin’ on campus (VLSB, Campanile and Sproul Steps), shopping down Telegraph (hooray for Sway and vintage shops)
- grabbed dinner at the Asian Ghetto and chilled at Nicky’s before heading to Fenton’s for ice cream sundaes (caught up with Ken, Mark, Wally, Frances and someone new)
- Nicky dropped Christine and I off in Hayward, she crashed at my place for the night
Tuesday, Apr. 1
- took Christine to E-on to grab coffee and my favorite bagel
- drove to Stanford (holla at the carpool lane!) to meet with my potential Grad School advisor about the Masters Program
- attempted to check out a museum Christine has been meaning to see, but found out it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Boo. Checked out the outdoor Rodin collection instead
- drove to Christine’s old middle school, Graham in Mountain View, to visit old teachers and students
- drove up to San Bruno for lunch with Nicky and Rick at Cleo’s for all-you-can-eat Brazilian beef; killed time at Tanforan Mall (yes y’all, Tanforan) for a bit beforehand
- came home and chilled out before calling up Joel and heading to Sushi House in Alameda with the fam and Tita Charo around 8pm
- loaded up on sushi with avocadoes and my Bay Scallop roll…that shit is bomb!
Wednesday, Apr. 2
- dropped dad off in San Lorenzo to play golf with one of his homies
- got my teef checked at the dentist’s office around cuz lord knows I don’t trust them up in this bitch
- chilled at home for a bit before catching BART to downtown SF
- exchanged and deposited cash from Japan, shopped a bit (holla at pants that fit), then took BART to Balboa for a late lunch with my Wonder Twin, Elisa at Guadalajara Taqueria in the Mission. Got my Carne Asada Super burrito….WOOOT!
- checked out a few shops around 16th and Valencia, BART downtown for a bit more shopping with Jerico
- BART to Milbrae and met up with family to have dinner at Patio Pilipino and stuffed our faces…AGAIN. Ate Chicharon, Lumpia, Calamari, Kare Kare, Crispy Pata, Sisig, Bangus…pork much, anyone? Got serenaded by live music. Baby Jake got a few songs dedicated to him AND a free CD. Holla at free shit.
Thursday, Apr. 3
- babysat Jake with dad in the morning and went crazy taking pictures
- ran errands in Union City: bought a new digital camera, running/work-out clothes, stocked up on toiletries and snacks to bring back to Japan
- started the packing process…YUCK!
- Caught BART around 4:30 to get back to downtown SF
- Loaded up on omiyage and gifts for my peeps in Japan from Walgreen’s – gotta budget that shit!
- Met up with Bert for about 15 minutes outside of the Marriot on 4th street, where we met up with Jerico
- Checked out the Columbia TC’s Admitted Students Reception from 7-9 at the Marriot with Jer got to grub on some free shit and ask more questions about grad school. Fun.
- Caught the BART to Glen Park and accompanied Joel to dinner before picking up Roza at SFO and going straight to Levende Lounge for PST!
- Met up with Kels and Rosemarie at Levende around 11pm, eventually caught up with KB and Bob. Ran into Tes and Marita, and got harassed/hit on by a tall ass black guy who played football in Texas and tried to act like he knew who I was (predicted I was from LA and claims I walked through the club with a ‘Don’t Fuck With Me’ sign on my forehead…care to guess which one he got right?)
- Saw Norweezy for about 5 seconds (him and his gf finally got inside around 12:30, but cover was $15 by that point…even I’D say fuck that!), only enough time to hug him hello and goodbye
- Forced to bounce out the club at 1am cuz some fool ripped a toilet out the ground and the place was about to flood…for real.
- Saved by Gemma to catch a ride back to the East Bay, but not before attempting to roll through Milk on Haight (which was closed), and grabbing grub at Nations in DC. Finally got home around 3AM
- Fell asleep on the couch with the TV on BET (we went from watching In Living Color reruns to those damn Religious Shows), all while Jake fell asleep on me…cute, fat baby.
Friday, Apr. 4
- woke up at 7am, showered, and by 8am was headed to SFO with pops
- had to repack my luggage since my shit was 13lbs overweight. Gawked at this dumbass 10 year old who straight SPIT on the ground IN the airport at the kiosk in front of us. WTH??
- split a “country breakfast” at the airport with dad since I hadn’t had pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage since coming home
- caught my flight at about 11:15am. Watched Walk Hard, Persopolis, National Treasure sequel, and episodes of Hannah Montana. Attempted to watch August Rush but the audio was WHACK. Boo.
Saturday, Apr. 5
- arrived at Osaka Kansai Airport at 3pm
- caught a train from KIX to the Shin-Osaka station around 4:15
- caught the Shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima around 5:20
- took the bus up from Hiroshima to Hamada at 7:20
- met Ashley at Hamada Eki around 9:30, and she drove me home…thank GOD!
- CRASHED around 10:30pm
LORD! That was the busiest “vacation” ever! Aren’t you exhausted just READING about it?! Shiet. I saw pretty much everyone and ate pretty much everything I possibly could have. I missed out on an A’s game (my own bad though), seeing Tony (where WERE you?!) and grabbing a philly cheesesteak, actual cheesecake, Vietnamese food and Naan ‘n Curry, but it’s all good. Overall: Good times!
But now there are more pressing matters at hand – decisions about my next steps: grad school, Japan, LIFE.
